Green-Schools 2017/2018
Global Citizenship -Waste and Litter
Our theme for Green Schools this year is Global Citizenship -Waste and Litter. Our Green Schools Committee held weekly meetings.
Each class focused on a country that had a connection in their classroom. We learned about each other’s places of birth, focused on greetings in different languages, learned about different foods and traditions i.e. dances. Each class created a poster showing what they did and learnt.
We held an International Day to celebrate the different countries and cultures pupils and staff come from.
Red 3 enjoyed an Irish Breakfast on their International day.
Red 1 enjoying their croissants on French International Day and they found France on the map!!!

Biodiversity Flag
Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.
Holy Family School is proud to announce that this year we have been awarded our Green Flag for the theme of Biodiversity. We all enjoyed a big celebration with our celebratory guest, Cork Goal Keeper Anthony Nash who joined in on the honor of raising the flag. Our green schools committee worked hard to promote Biodiversity around the school, providing classes with seeds to plant in each individual room as well as supervise and care for all plants in our green house and poly tunnel.
This year we also were very excited as we had the wonderful experience of observing some baby chickens hatch from our incubator.
